30. MATHS IN MASSAGE

Mrs. Dawes, Year 6 teacher  at Sheringdale asked, “can you create a massage story that will help us relax during SATS and yet focus a little on our maths syllabus?”

Here is a short clip.

Use your soft forearm to trace a huge circle on your partner’s back. Circle it around and around, make them feel complete.  Join two radii to make a diameter, cup your hands over one half of the area, tap your fingers over a ¼ and walk hand prints in the last 0.25.

To make our partner feel complete and 100% in every way,
Create a colossal, connecting circle with a diameter like a sunray.
Cover 50% of the area with a cool, cupping sound,
A ¼ with light, tapping raindrops and 0.25 with flat hands walking on soft ground.

31. THE THREE LITTLE PIGS

A well-known family, favourite tale. Let’s follow three pink pigs with soft, snuffly snouts

As they build their dream homes!

Draw the shape of a big, curved cooking pot onto your partner’s shoulders and back. Keep making these lovely, curved, curly hot pots.

Third little pig was right, as you know,
Wolf slid down into the hot cooking pot all- aglow.
No more wolfie, Piggy left safe and sound,
Sitting in his red brick house firmly cemented on the ground!

“The brave Viking warriors against gruesome giants they must fight,
The Massage club children from Grand Avenue School tell you their plight.
This story and clever massage strokes created by children oh so clever,
Will make you want to join the Vikings in their endeavor!”

Sweep your arms across your partners back from each shoulder to the opposite hip like the oars rowing on a Viking long ship boat. Now squeeze your partner’s shoulders and arms and then roll your hands like waves over their shoulders and arms too.
